Jump n Jive Tots is an exploratory movement and dance class. It is a safe place for your child to explore and develop their gross motor skills.
Through movement a child will interact with others and with the environment. They will build awareness of how their body moves, confidence in how their body moves, develop mastery in moving their body, push their boundaries in a safe environment and build an understanding of creating enjoyment.
At Jump n Jive Tots we want to enable children to experience movement in a way they just want to keep exploring! We aim to enable parents to help their children to explore movements and stimulus in a fun and accessible way.
Each session starts with a brief catch-up about any movement developments that our attending children have made (we like to celebrate!), a warm-up commences and then the Class Manager demonstrates the sessions theme and how it can be explored through movement with the available resources.
In addition to the session’s movement theme there are stations of activities where the child and their parent can explore through movement play. The movement play of Jump n Jive Tots is based upon the understanding of Developmental Movement Play, Sherborne Developmental Movement, and Laban’s principles of human movement, and how we can be ‘helpful adults’, spotting how our children need and want to move and giving them a chance to do it.Attending children of Jump n Jive Tots have an ongoing achievement book which celebrates key milestones and movement observations.
